When
it comes to packaging, Miele's motto is 'as much as
necessary, but as little as possible'. Naturally,
Miele make it as environmentally friendly as possible,
and all the packaging is recyclable.
Thanks
to their high metal content, Miele's large appliances
are the most recyclable in the world. All plastic components
are marked so that they can be manually sorted by their
different materials at the end of a machine's life.
Miele
were the first company in the industry to be assessed
under the Eco Management and Audit schemes according
to DIN-ISO-14001.
Machines
are regularly picked at random from the production line
and are subjected to a 10,000 hour endurance test -
the equivalent of a 20 year working life. Only if they
pass this test with flying colours are they considered
worthy to carry the Miele name.
The
top of the range washing machines use only 49 litres
of water and 0.95kWh of electrcity for a full cottons
load.
Miele
washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers all
have an Update facility that allows them to be reprogrammed
in line with new developments in wash technology.
